With total sales of end user products of 2m Euros and more than 8,000 software products sold, Enfocus increased sales revenue by 40% compared to the same quarter last year.

David van Driessche, Enfocus chief executive officer, said: "By any standard, the last quarter has been our best ever.

Moreover, this increase in sales has been recorded in a large majority of our focus countries.

Sales reached new levels in 10 of our 12 most important markets including US, UK, Germany, Italy and the Benelux.

The surge in sales is also happening throughout our product range, and OEM sales are showing the same trend." He added that sales growth would have been even higher-at 50% if it had been for the fall in the value of the dollar.

Even though the release of Adobe's Acrobat 6 Professional, which included some overlap with Enfocus products, may have raised some questions as to the company's ability to sustain growth, customers continued to recognise the value of its systems, he said.

Even though founder Peter Camps left the company in May 2003, Enfocus maintained a smooth transition and confidence from its markets.

German technology consultant Bernd Zipper said: "Enfocus has been very successful in bridging the gap in data communications between professional PDF publishers and their clients.

More than any competitor, the Belgian software developer is providing the best tools for PDF Generation.

PDF publishing without Enfocus tools is simply not possible.".
