Enfocus Revs Up Pitstop Server With PDF

Enfocus Software has released Pitstop Server 3.1, featuring full PDF 1.5, Mac OS X and Acrobat 6 compatibility.

Enfocus Software has released Pitstop Server 3.1, featuring full PDF 1.5, Mac OS X and Acrobat 6 compatibility.

With this release, the entire Enfocus product line is now PDF 1.5 compatible, allowing documents to be pre-flighted, automatically corrected, and certified in accordance with the latest PDF specifications for improved processing through the entire workflow.

PDF 1.5 support means Pitstop Server can now offer built-in checks to detect the PDF version number, object compression, JPEG 2000, 16-bit per channel images, as well as the existence of layers within the PDF document.

In addition, Enfocus has redesigned the colour management layer so that a number of generic ICC profiles now come standard with the application.

Fujifilm Electronic Imaging used its Colourkit Profiler Suite to create the profiles.

Within the new server, incoming certified PDF files could be checked against a PDF profile with a different name, based on the PDF Profile settings only.

Comparison is important to users who need to apply stricter PDF Profile settings than those used at the destination site, or whom simply wish to rename the PDF Profile used.

It is said to be of great value to users running the server on platforms where no colour management system is available.

It also represents the first release of a Japanese language version.

Along with the Pitstop Server 3.1 standalone solution, Enfocus also offers Pitstop Server SDK (Software Development Kit), which includes all the tools and documentation for software integrators who want to develop custom Pitstop Server systems.

Enfocus has also announced maintenance updates in new versions of Pitstop Professional 6.1, Instant PDF 2.21 and Statuscheck 1.22, in which certain issues related to Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) have been addressed.
