Enfocus Software will unveil Instant PDF 3.0, a major upgrade of its PDF preflight application, at Drupa 2004.

Instant PDF 3.0 enables transparent creation and delivery of flawless PDFs from document creators and includes powerful tools allowing critical downstream definition of creation parameters said the company.

Creators will, without any additional steps or effort, produce PDF documents that match printers' and publishers' preferred workflow specifications via the new Enfocus PDF Queue.

It controls which PDF creation methods are allowed and which parameters should be used and contains all settings, including print styles, job options, PDF Profiles and Action Lists, needed to create error-free PDFs, said Enfocus.

A series of new features also includes menu-level integration with multiple PDF creation tools including: Adobe InDesign CS, Adobe Acrobat, and QuarkXPress 6, and operating system-level integration in Mac OS X (Panther and Jaguar).

PDF Queue contains all settings needed to create error-free PDFs.

"The integration of the Enfocus PDF Queue with Certified PDF.net makes it effortless for receivers to consistently communicate their preferred quality specifications to their creative partners and customers.

If a specification changes, these changes are automatically distributed using Instant PDF's queue update feature from CertifiedPDF.net," said Filiep Maes, Enfocus's director of software development.

An Enfocus PDF Profile, providing the most comprehensive set of PDF preflight checks and fixes.

What Enfocus described as 'self-healing provides minimal installation and maintenance concerns for the application and PDF Queues.

An optional review step allows visual inspection of generated PDF files before they are delivered.

All errors and warnings in the preflight report are hyper linked to the PDF Guide, a resource that explains the respective errors or warnings and offers tips on how to solve them.

"The creator of a PDF is not the only beneficiary of Instant PDF 3.0.

The publisher of PDF quality specifications, generally the PDF receiver, will also benefit from this product," said van Driessche.

"Instant PDF 3.0 gives them powerful tools to set up Enfocus PDF Queues in which they can embed their knowledge about the PDFs and their workflow.

The integration with CertifiedPDF.net makes it simple for receivers to communicate quality specifications to their customers.

We believe that Instant PDF 3.0 bridges a critical gap to achieve truly reliable inter-company PDF workflows," continued van Driessche.

The company believes that a professional queue publisher will generally benefit from acquiring all Enfocus products - for instance, Instant PDF 3.0 to create the queues; Pitstop Professional to create action lists and PDF Profiles; CertifiedPDF.net to publish the queues; plus Pitstop Server to automate the control of incoming files.

To cater for that Enfocus is launching a Certified PDF Workflow Suite.

It contains a copy of all Enfocus products plus a maintenance and support component.

A yearly fee gives customers access to upgrades, a subscription to CertifiedPDF.net, and a dedicated support forum.

"At Drupa 2004, Enfocus intends to show a technology preview of how job ticket support will be incorporated into its products.

We will conduct an extensive beta cycle before releasing the product, as valued user feedback has historically been an Enfocus priority in the development phase.

"Drupa is also a good moment to look back on what our company has achieved over the last four years," commented van Driessche.
