Enfocus updates Switch automation software

Enfocus has introduced Switch 09, the latest version of the Enfocus Switch range of automation software.

Enfocus claims the new release makes it easier to create and edit workflows and features more powerful tools for larger environments and a completely renewed Switchclient.

The Switch product range automates the repetitive tasks involved in printing and publishing.

Switch's improvements include easier workflow editing, with folders that can be automatically added when two tools or configurators are connected.

Flow elements can be inserted in an existing connection and connections can be moved from one flow element to another.

There is also email support, with Switch supporting event-driven plain text and HTML-format email notifications to customers.

It now also supports IMAP servers and secured log-ins.

A new workflow element splits multi-page PDF files into single pages or ranges of pages, while another tool merges separate PDF files into one consolidated file.

Since these tools are based on the Enfocus library, they do not require the use of external applications.

Switch comes with a collaboration tool to allow operators and clients to submit jobs and make decisions on jobs.

The Switchclient tool has been completely redesigned to show all jobs using thumbnails in combination with job information, status, statistics and metadata.

Jobs can be filtered by user, status or Switch server, and a search field allows instant search for specific jobs.

New third-party integration for Switch 09 features Crossroads, a community built around the Enfocus Switch automation systems that enables communication between Switch users and vendors.

Switch 09 also introduces new Crossroads partners that have integrated Switch with their own systems.

The initial release of Switch 09 is expected to include additional configurators, such as GMG Connect, which is capable of connecting to Switch.

Colour management and proofing can be better automated and centrally controlled with GMG.

ICS Remote Director provides colour-accurate monitor proofing systems.

Switch can be integrated with the Woodwing Enterprise and Dutch Software Elvis publishing platform tools.

Switch also supports a Microsoft Word configurator.

Switch 09 is available directly from the Enfocus website in English, French, German and Japanese.

A fully functional (time-limited) trial version can be downloaded from the Enfocus website, as well as trial versions of all other Enfocus products.
