Henry Ling, specialists in science, technical and medical journals and book printing, have installed an MB CAS 52/4 folder from Encore Machinery.

While five Stahl folders are used for B1 work, there is a significant requirement for smaller format eight and four page B2 and B3 sections, which until recently were folded on a Stahl T52, said Encore.

Helen Kennett, head of manufacturing at Henry Ling, explained: "We wanted to upgrade the Stahl T52 with more automation to speed up make ready." Kennett saw the computerised MB folder, which is claimed to quickly and simply automate all the set up procedures via touch screen operation, being demonstrated at Digital Print World.

She added: "The technology was important but so was the superior build quality of the MB.

It has halved the time it used to take us to set up a job.

Added to that, it can also store set up information in the memory for repeat jobs.

It's very early days at the moment but we know that this will be a very useful time-saving feature because we print and finish regular monthly magazines.".
