B2 Folder Enables Complex Jobs Growth
Priory Press, commercial printers in Dunstable, has traded in its old folder for a new MB CAS 52 computer-controlled B2 folder from Encore Machinery.
"We traded in the first machine and bought two of the high speed creasers to handle the growing demand for personalised and customised digital print, which needs to be auto-creased.
As we do a lot of direct mail work for the agency and automotive industry, it isn't unusual for us to fold 40,000 300gsm personalised mailers each week.
In fact, we often print and finish several hundred thousand personalised documents, which have to be pre-creased to eliminate problems with cracking.
The first Pit Stop creaser ran at 3,600 sheets per hour (sph) but by buying two it means that we operate at 16,000sph, which makes a big difference to daily mailings," said Aran Lon, Lorien Unique's production manager.
With such long runs, speed is the most important factor.
The Super High Speed Pit Stop, which creases board weights up to 600gsm, is over three times faster than competing models, claimed Encore.
"It is the best machine for the job.
It rattles through the campaigns and the quality of the finish is superb.
It's taken the pressure off, allowing us to concentrate on the quality of the print," said Long.
Lorien Unique, which already had three HP3050 sheet fed digital presses built its reputation as a major supplier to one of the leading motor manufacturers.
Although it provided data to third parties, it was not until recently that it also offered personalised digital print.
