Arrowhead Print in Alton has purchased a Shoei Star 4KL folder from Encore Machinery.

Arrowhead Print in Alton has purchased a Shoei Star 4KL folder from Encore Machinery.

"We were farming out 60 per cent of our finishing because we did not have the equipment to fold A4 eight-page and A5 16-page magazines and catalogues, which we produce for a wide range of clients, including financial institutions, estate agents and developers," said Nigel Willis, Arrowhead's print finishing manager.

A decision was made to bring the work in-house and Arrowhead ordered a Muller Valore stitch trim system.

The current machine was only capable of folding between four and six pages, so the company had to replace it with one that could fold 16 pages.

Having done some research, Arrowhead decided to trade in their folder for a Shoei Star and it has now brought virtually all its finishing in-house.

Willis explained: "We had some budget constraints but I definitely didn't want to buy a second hand machine.

There are still one or two specialist jobs that we still send out where we don't have sufficient work to warrant investing in the equipment.

As an experienced print finisher, I wanted a folder that I liked to run and on a price and performance basis and I was convinced that the Shoei Star was the best machine on the market.

It is a good, well made folder, which will easily last us for the next ten years.".
