B2 Folder Enables Complex Jobs Growth
Priory Press, commercial printers in Dunstable, has traded in its old folder for a new MB CAS 52 computer-controlled B2 folder from Encore Machinery.
It is expandable and available with one, two or three fold units.
MB will also demonstrate the set-up and the operation of the fully computer-controlled folder, which can be operated by less skilled and less expensive operators with relatively minimal training, added the company.
That is said to give the system more flexibility in less traditional operations away from the bindery, such as mailing and digital printing.
The MB Autoset 18, is described as a high volume inserter with suction ,rotary and friction feed combinations and it will also be at Drupa 2008.
It said to be able to run up to 18,000 cycles an hour.
Based on a linear flow of documents with no change of direction from the feeding system to the enveloping station and, in line with MB's philosophy, it is fully-automated with all settings controlled from a touch screen.
The flexibility to handle a variety of stocks offers advantages in the transactional mailing sector, it is claimed.
The Autoset 18 is also said to process management information as an optional interface transfers data from the machine to a PC, allowing production speeds and output levels to be analysed.
Job monitoring is also useful for isolating problems on the inserting line and there is a screen to monitor every servo-motor throughout the machine.
It displays their loads and running times, so if there is a tight bearing somewhere, it can be located.
Also to be featured at the exhibition will be the MB System 432 for collecting and folding, which can include a cutter for continuous forms, or a cut sheet pre-loader.
In addition at Drupa, the MB 426, which is for paper that does not require folding, can have a cutter and the 904 on-line system, which slits and merges documents.
