An Encore Machinery product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Mar 8, 2010

Encore will demonstrate a range of Pitstop creasing and perforating machines for high volume digital and offset print as stand-alone machines and on-line to an MB fold unit at Ipex 2010.

The new Pitstop WFM Speed creasing machine is fitted with an MB deep pile feeder and full length lay register table.

It is claimed to create letterpress quality creasing and perforating on all types of digitally printed work.

The rise and full platen creasing action enables positive, accurate creasing on stock from 60gsm up to 600gsm at up to 11,000 sheets, said Encore.

A 200 location program memory with a set-up of up to 100 creases per sheet is standard on the machine.

A wiro binding punch and two or four drill holes can be fitted for further flexibility.

It is also possible to fit a microperfing tool.

Encore will also showcase the Prestigefold Net 52, which folds up to 520mm x 850mm.

The Net 52 has fully computerised set-up of the feeder head, side guide, all side lays, six folding plates, deflectors, roller pressure setting and delivery wheels via touch screen control.

It has the ability to store 200 jobs, enabling the machine to be reset to any imposition within 30 seconds, added the company.

It can be networked through an Ethernet connection for off-line programming and managing information and is compatible with CIP4, JDF and UP3i.

It is equipped with a deep pile suction feeder and pulsed delivery, electronic self setting, double sheet detector, jam detector and batch counter as standard.

Mike Biggs, managing director of Encore Machinery, said: 'MB computerised folders reduce set-up times by almost 50 per cent.

The workload on skilled personnel and waste are also reduced.

The results are lower costs and more flexibility.

The modular design makes various extensions and individual combinations possible.

Ipex 2010 will also be the first UK showing of the MB Autoset 18 fully-automated inserting system.

The main features of the Autoset 18 are high 'on the belt output' up to 18,000 cycles an hour and low maintenance requirements, said Encore.

Based on a linear flow of documents with no change of direction from the feeding system to the enveloping station it is fully-automated with all settings controlled from a touch screen.

It can offer suction, rotary and friction feeder combinations.

The flexibility to handle a variety of stocks is also said to provide advantages for the transactional mailing sector.

Encore's sales manger, Paul Davidson, commented: 'If a bank statement goes through and is in four sections, the machine can be told by a database that the consumer is interested in golf, motor sport and fishing, so it will take inserts from different feeders accordingly and insert them with the customer's statement, complementing the growing demand in personalised mailing.

Another feature is the amount of management information the system can handle.

Also to be demonstrated is the JUD range of single clamp and four clamp perfect binders, which are said to be suitable for short run book production.

They are fully-automated with touch screen controls.

JUD binders are available with hot melt and PUR glue systems.

The new JUD 730 PUR is being launched for the growing demand for one-off book production within the digital print market.

It is also said to be appropriate for binding books on demand or for longer runs.

It is designed to provide simple, low maintenance application of hot melt adhesives, sealants and butyls.

The new Jupiter double sided laminating machine will also be on display by Encore.
