Evolution invests in automated Screen B1 CTP line

In a move designed to provide substantial cost savings as well as an increase in quality, Wirral-based printing company Evolution and its sister repro company Speedgraphics, have invested in a fully-automated B1 plate production line from Screen.

The installation of the Screen PlateRite 8000 together with the SA-L 8000 autoloader and an AT-T8001 processor bridge was successfully completed and commissioned in November.

This is another substantial investment for Evolution, set up two years ago by the Hussey family, who also own Speedgraphics, as an expansion into the print sector.

?With the repro sector coming under increasing pressure it seemed an obvious step for us to develop the print side,? said Justin Hussey, Evolution's production director.

This way we can provide a true one-stop shop for new clients as well as continuing to service our existing repro customers.? The 30-strong company, equipped with two Komori Lithrone presses, one six colour and one four colour, operates around the clock producing a wide variety of commercial print work.

?There had to be identifiable savings for us to go the CtP route.

While the quality issue is important, the system had to be able to pay for itself,? said Hussey.
