Network and internet connectivity provider, Exponential-e has become one of the sponsors of the Digital Ad Lab UK.

The company, which provides the pre-press and publishing communities a model for data transfer in the digital workflow, believes the Ad Lab is the ideal platform to discuss digital developments and requirements with the industry's leaders.

Exponential-e said its model promotes the sharing of network resource and on-line applications between groups of pre-press and publishing companies who, although commercially independent, all work collaboratively on the same project and so need to communicate their part of the process with each other.

By sharing network resource, the companies not only share the cost but communication improves as data transfer is quicker, as is access to core applications.

"The Digital Ad Lab is the leading forum for the pre-press and publishing sector to discuss the development and processes within digital workflow practice," commented Harvey Jones, business development director, Exponential-e.

"Since Exponential-e provides the communications infrastructure on which this workflow rests, we see it as essential that we take part in the debate.

By being part of the discussion we can ensure we continue to develop and deliver connectivity applications that are beneficial to all companies within the community," he added.

Exponential-e's approach uses only Ethernet technology to build bespoke networks, as the company believes that Ethernet delivers major advantages over traditional technologies such as ISDN, frame relay and ATM.

Not only is it native to 95 per cent of local area networks so companies simply plug the connection in to an existing port, but Ethernet is also flexible.

So, rather than having multiple costly ISDN lines, companies can pay for a single access line which is then split between as many sites as required, claimed the company.

Existing customers of Exponential-e include Haymarket, Mullis Morgan, John Brown Citrus Publishing, Admagic and Vertis-PRS.
