Large format printing, as well as sublimation, flag and banner and sign production is set to benefit from the new Posterprint v2008 RIP software.

That is according to Posterprint supplier Ergosoft, which said the product's launch was the result of 18 months of development following the adoption of suggestions from customers and a beta testing period.

The revised Ergosoft software is now available and it features Posterprint's user interface and usability, which are claimed to have been enhanced and enlarged with new functions to continue to increase the productivity and flexibility of the system.

With the integration of the multi-core CPU technology the new RIP software v2008 is claimed to be up to 30 per cent faster than before.

The known production tool Jobqueueviewer that provides a summary of the current print information, has been extended to the new Jobcenter and allows a fast overview of the status of the printer, cutter and the RIP, said Ergosoft.

It provides an overview of the state of the RIPping process, as well as what other print jobs are doing at the printer and how much of their job have the cutters already finished, A new Jobticket function is said to give detailed information about every job and enables users to recall information later.

At the same time Printclient allows on the fly changes of print parameters to optimise the printer settings, such as the number of passes, uni-directional, or bi-directional printing and changing the temperature at the printer heating.

Ergosoft added that it is also possible to print white ink and spot colours.

With the introduction of a new feature to estimate the costs users have detailed information about the price of the job and they can use this information for further price quotes.

The company explained that with the help of the optional additions, the modularly developed Posterprint v2008 can be customised to users' needs and grow with their business success.

Optional functions, such as variable data, are also available.

That function can be used to print sport-shirts with all the same pattern but with different numbers or names, for example.

A user could also print advertisement posters with different pictures and text but with the same pattern and company logo.

Ergosoft's Hans-Peter Tobler commented: "With Posterprint we once again set the standard for RIP programs in terms of user friendliness, quality and productivity.".
