Pre-Press Systems Growth In China Prompts Move

ECRM has made progress in expanding its distribution reach in the fast-growing Chinese market by announcing agreements with two resellers in the region.

AFA Industrial Corporation and Universal Printing Equipment and Supplies will begin marketing ECRM CTP platesetters and workflow systems in the region immediately.

ECRM said that in 2005, China imported more than four times as much printing and publishing equipment as it exported (1.65 billion to 381million, NPES).

China has experienced an annual average growth rate in printing sales of 14.65 per cent, added the company and during the same period, the average annual growth rate for pre-press systems sales is over nine per cent.

At the same time, consumption of printing plates in China has almost doubled - up by 97.7 per cent in the five year period.

ECRM added that in 2005, Chinese printers consumed more than 120 million square metres of plate material.

Subsequently, for printers in China, the CTP platesetter has become one of their most valuable production tools.
