Kodak is scheduled to demonstrate ist violet plate for commercial printers, Violet Print and its newspaper plate called Violetnews.
Violet Print is claimed to provide crisp, clean images with claimed screen rulings of up to 200 lines per inch (lpi) on run lengths of 200,000-plus impressions.
The Violetnews plate is a violet photopolymer plate for newspaper publishers and is said to be capable of resolutions up to 175lpi and run-lengths of up to 200,000 copies.
ECRM's area sales manager, Tom Fitzpatrick, said: "For the small to mid-sized printer, violet CTP is quickly becoming the accepted standard.
Violet CTP is geared more to the production manager concerned with productivity and reliability.
Standard performance characteristics are high-quality - which is now considered equivalent to thermal - low maintenance, lower cost, simplified electronics and higher imaging speeds best suited for run lengths up to 200,000.
Combined with the industry's most reliable laser, users benefit from low-energy, high-speed productivity, whilst realising dramatically reduced acquisition, operational and, most of all, service costs." Said to be suitable for the printer that is moving in to CTP, the Mako 2 CTP platesetter is said to provide two-page platesetting at a price of an imagesetter.
As a commercial printer, trade shop or quick printer, producing high-quality (200 line screen) output and maintaining a cost-effective operation is critical to success in the highly competitive two-page or B3+ market, according to ECRM.
The violet imaging technology The Mako 2 CTP platesetters is built to be flexible, said ECRM.
The CTP system can operate in manual mode, or with an automated plate output transport to enable direct connection to an online processor.
The Mako 4x utilises ECRM's latest developments, including patented optical technology that, with ECRM e-circuitry, is claimed to provide quality imaging.
The Mako 4x also employs an auto-pinch and auto-image feature for hands-free operation after initial plate positioning.
The system is also said to offer an expanded format capability, from 228mm x 252mm (8.9" x 9.9") up to 660mm x 960mm (26.0" x 37.8") offering resolution sets from 1,200 dots per inch (dpi) - 3,556dpi and imaging over 20 Speedmaster 74 plates per hour at 2,400dpi.
