Multi-Press Operation Platesetter At Malaysia Show

An ECRM product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Aug 3, 2007

The Mako 8 platesetter from ECRM will be exhibited at IPMEX Malaysia 2007 in workflow with a connecting Heights Maya 85P processing unit.

The IPMEX exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, which runs from August 10 - 13, will see ECRM demonstrate the claimed production values and benefits of violet CTP for commercial litho printing and digital printing service providers.

ECRM will attend the show with its local distribution partner Accel Graphic Systems.

The Mako 8 platesetter is claimed to be suitable for multi-press printing operations.

Offering formats for two-page, four-page, six-page and eight-page signatures, it is said to break the price barrier for eight-up CTP and offers a maximum format of 824mm x 1,143mm and production speeds of 19 eight-page plates per hour.

ECRM said that with the Mako 8 engineered to keep multi-press environments efficient through flexible, fast and trouble-free operation, the system can also accommodate any plate size between 824mm x 1,143mm and 254mm x 254mm.

The largest format provides space for eight-page jobs with all trim marks and colour bars in position, whilst the minimum format allows for most popular duplicator-sized presses.

The Mako 8 registration system uses the same registration notches as the press, ensuring optimum imaging-to-plate-to-press registration and faster make-ready during press start up, added the company.

To accommodate the widest range of presses, the integrated registration system is said to be change in a few seconds, allowing flexibility in job scheduling across multiple presses.

The ability to accurately image to the edge of the plate enables the Mako 8 to easily comply with the small lock-up dimensions required by today's modern presses ( up to 8mm).

And, using a straight-through plate path, the Mako 8 provides easy operation and automated delivery to a processor, added ECRM.

Johnson Mak, ECRM's business development manager for the Asia Pacific region, commented: "With over 3,000 printers in Malaysia, employing more than 20,000 workers, commercial printing is a major industry in the region.

According to the Japan Association of Graphic Arts Technology, printing exports represented over 70 per cent of Malaysia's exports (printed books and pamphlets) in 2003.

For commercial printers, Violet CTP represents a means to increased productivity and reliability, as well as dramatically reduced acquisition, maintenance, operational and, most of all, service costs.".
