The Mako News platesetter from ECRM will be exhibited at the IFRA India 2007 exhibition, which will be held at the Chennai Convention Centre from September 4 - 6.

ECRM will be represented at the show by its local distributor, Kohli Graphic Systems, which will help demonstrate the production value and benefits of violet CTP for newspaper publishers.

According to the company, visitors to IFRA India 2007 will see how the claimed easy installation process and simple approach of the Mako News system enables CTP implementation.

ECRM said it has engineered the violet CTP platesetter to provide the colour production required by small and medium-sized newspaper publishers.

With a flexible format it is said to accommodate the most popular range of web widths (up to a maximum format of 635mm x 960mm or 25.0" x 37.8") and is claimed to be suitable for publishers as it is capable of producing over 78 Berliner plates per hour at 1,200 dots per inch (dpi) without complex load and unload cycles.

Targeted for most single-width newspaper presses, Mako News is said to provide added flexibility with optics that provide eight resolutions from 1,016dpi to 2,540dpi and three anamorphic resolution sets (1,016dpi x 2,032dpi, 1,200dpi x 2400dpi and 1,270dpi x 2,540dpi).

Ken Tucker, ECRM's area sales manager said: "With India experiencing a dramatic growth in newspaper circulation over the past five years, our violet CTP offers publishers in the region a means to increased productivity and reliability, with significantly reduced operational and service costs.

As the direct impact of circulating nearly 80 million newspapers on a daily basis has seen an enormous 108 per cent growth in advertising revenue, the high quality print results and faster imaging speeds offered by our Mako News systems have already proved very popular." He continued: "India represents a huge market for ECRM, not only because 17 of the world's top 100 newspapers are published there, but we've been involved with some very large installations including 21 Mako Newsmatic platesetters installed at Mathrubhumi Newspapers and 11 Mako News systems at Malayala Manorama.

The show will provide an ideal forum for us to demonstrate our violet CTP technology to an even wider audience.".
