ECRM will launch its latest Violet CTP system at IFRA Expo 2007, showcasing the Mako Newsmatic HS Plus in Vienna for the first time from October 8 - 11.

The company said it will demonstrate how the new system has been designed to meet the high quality, increasing volume and fast turn-around production needs of small to medium-sized newspaper publishers.

In addition to providing a transition to unattended CTP for newspaper publishers, the Mako Newsmatic HS Plus is claimed to provide increased speeds and, by utilising ECRM's violet laser technology, an upgraded optical system.

To increase flexibility, eight resolutions can be configured ranging from 1,016 dots per inch (dpi) to 2,540dpi, as well as three anamorphic resolution settings (1,016dpi x 2,032dpi, 1,200dpi x 2,400dpi and 1,270dpi x 2,540dpi.

The Masko Newsmatic HS Plus is also claimed to accommode the widest range of web widths up to a maximum format of 635mm x 927mm (25" x 36.5").

In addition, it also uses ECRM's patented Flexarm slip sheet removal system.

It also provides a claimed small footprint, easy installation, simple-operation and what the company believes is the lowest cost of ownership in the industry.

Derek Sizer, ECRM's vice president for the eastern hemisphere business, said: "The Mako Newsmatic HS Plus sets a new standard in violet CTP technology for the mid-sized newspaper industry.

The plate handling performance alone means that we have more than doubled its capacity and can now produce up to 100 panorama plates per hour at 1,016dpi.

This offers significant benefits to newspaper publishers dealing with higher volumes and faster turn-around times." He continued: "The new technology also deals head-on with the quality issues associated with larger circulations and increased advertising.

Using a significantly enhanced optical system with the latest violet laser technology, the Mako Newsmatic HS Plus produces optimum quality results.

IFRA will provide us with the ideal forum to launch this new technology and to demonstrate how it is one of the most versatile systems available today.".
