Violet CTP Systems Go On Show In Japan

An ECRM product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Sep 19, 2007

ECRM will demonstrate the claimed production value and reliability of violet CTP for commercial and digital printers during the IGAS 2007 tradeshow in Tokyo (Japan) from September 21 - 27.

The company will be represented at the show by its distributor in Japan, AM Japan.

Displaying the ECRM eight-up (Mako 8) and four-up (Mako 4matic) violet CTP systems, the company said it will highlight the reliability and ease of use of the systems, as well as its film-based Mako 36 imagesetter.

Derek Sizer, ECRM's vice president for eastern hemisphere business, commented: "Whilst demand for pre-press production tools in the Asian market is on the rise, print service providers continue to demand value for their investments.

During IGAS we intend to demonstrate not only the quality, reliability and flexibility of our products but also our cost-effective, budget-conscious systems." He explained: "As the theme of IGAS 2007 is the future of print media, its reliability and progress, we will focus on the fact that our product range continually evolves, utilising the latest technology, yet remaining reliable, no-nonsense, easy to use and cost-effective.

And, setting price precedents with our technology around the globe, we are still considered to be the value leader in the CTP and image setter markets." The Mako 8 is claimed to provide commercial quality and press format flexibility.

The system is also said to provide cost-effective platesetting to commercial printers.

With a maximum format of 32.4" x 45.0" (824mm x 1,143mm) and claimed production speeds of 20, eight-page plates per hour, the Mako 8 is claimed to keep multi-press environments efficient through flexible, fast and trouble-free operation.

The system can also accommodate any plate size between 32.4" x 45.0" (824mm x 1,143mm) and 10.0" x 10.0" (254mm x 254 mm), added ECRM.

The largest format provides space for eight-page jobs with all trim marks and colour bars in position.

The minimum format allows for most popular duplicator size presses.

The Mako 4matic is described as an automated, fully-featured four-page CTP system for busy print shops where flexibility in production is essential.

Accommodating the widest range of two-page, four-page and six-page presses, the 4matic has the ability to deliver 20, four-up plates per hour at 2,540 dots per inch (dpi), said ECRM.

And the Mako 4matic can accommodate any plate size between 15.15" x 15.15" (385mm x 385mm) and 25.0" x 36.5" (635mm x 927mm).

The largest format provides space for oversize jobs such as six-page gatefolds with all printers marks and colour bars in position.

Both cassette and pin bar can be changed to accommodate different plate sizes and press registration systems.

The Mako 36 Imagesetter is avilable in three different models, ranging in output width from 360mm to 560mm formats.

Each imagesetter is said to be capable of being upgraded to larger formats and higher speeds, as well as being able to offer flexibility in media choice - film, polyester plate or paper.

The Mako 36 is an entry-level imagesetter, imaging at widths up to 360mm in two-up format, including colour bars and printer's marks suitable for most B2 presses, said the company.

The imagesetter is also claimed to provide sharp dots, accurate repeatability and a choice of resolutions for job output up to 200-line screen.

It is manufactured to ISO 9001 standards.
