Esko-Graphics has introduced a number of new strategic business and technology relationships at Drupa 2004.

Esko-Graphics has introduced a number of new strategic business and technology relationships at Drupa 2004.

Adobe Systems is supporting the Esko-Graphics' Scope demonstrations of Deskpack and JDF on the Esko-Graphics booth throughout.

Deskpack links Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop users into Esko's Scope workflow.

It controls trapping and step-and-repeat operations for labels and renders packaging designs interactively in realistic 3D, said Esko Graphics.

In the theatre on the Esko-Graphics stand, Adobe is presenting Creative Suite and is making presentations on the role and usage of PDF as a file format in packaging and printing environments.

Agfa and Esko-Graphics are showing the results of their close cooperation to link Scope packaging pre-production tools with Agfa's production automation servers.

Both companies promote the use of industry standards to allow customers to build multi-vendor workflows.

Sample configurations using Deskpack (for one-up creation) and Plato (for step and repeat) and driving Apogee X for output are being demonstrated on Agfa's stand (Hall 6, Stand D27) and in Agfa's main demonstration centres.

Esko and Hewlett-Packard have announced that they are offering a complete digital label printing system that combines an HP Indigo digital web press with Scope, workflow.

Esko-Graphics claimed that a single Scope pre-production system can now serve both conventional and digital printing, allowing users to postpone the decision on which press to print their jobs towards the end of the workflow with the advantage of more flexibility with two complementary workflows, and better delivery times for the label converter.

In addition, Scope automatically converts any ink set used with job to those inks available on the HP digital press, including HP Indichrome.

It is being demonstrated by Hewlett-Packard in Hall 4, Stands C23 and D47.

Responding to customers needs to combine front-end software with hardware devices, Esko-Graphics has announced a distribution agreement with Aabach Graphic Systems to license Scope's Plato step and repeat software for bundling with Aabach Graphic Systems' gravure output devices Digra Autec and Digra Ekon engraving machines for commercial printing and packaging.

The combined capabilities will be demonstrated on the Aabach Graphic Systems stand A73 in Hall 3.

As part of the JDF functionality of the Scope workflow, Esko-Graphics is demonstrating the ability to interface with MIS systems supplied by vendors from different countries.

They include Cerm, Graphisoft, Hiflex, Optimus (UK), Printplus, Printvision and Tharstern.

Using the JDF input from these systems, the imposition workflow in Scope can be completely automated, leading to major added value for the mutual customers, claimed Esko-Graphics.
