Backstage Workflow Takes Centre Stage At Drupa

Esko-Graphics and Real Time Image have announced that Esko-Graphics' Backstage workflow server will now integrate with Real Time Proof online remote proofing.

Backstage forms the heart of Esko-Graphics' Scope pre-production workflow for packaging and complex commercial printing operations.

The integration of the two systems is entirely based on the use of JDF.

According to Real Time Image, this partnership is the first deployment of its new JDF Application Server.

Esko-Graphics and Real Time Image together are highlighting the integrated pre-press workflow at Drupa on the Esko-Graphics stand C40 in Hall 4.

The Real Time Proof interface has effectively become the new face of Backstage.

By using the JDF connection between Real Time Proof and Backstage, the Real Time Proof product has essentially become the online approval module for Scope.

That way, the companies believe Scope has increased productivity, improved communication and achieves faster turn around by eliminating intermediate hard copy proofs and associated costs, whilst reinforcing collaboration and client relationships.

Backstage 2.0 is the server component of the Scope workflow.

It comes completely JDF-enabled and is capable of accepting instructions that pilot Backstage tasks to correctly process a job and to remotely drive other software functions via JDF commands, said Esko-Graphics.

Backstage stands for production automation and error-reduction, leading to a cost-efficient packaging and commercial print production workflow commented the company.
