CTP And Workflow Go On The Road In North Europe
The Scandinavian CTP and Workflow Tour, sponsored by Esko-Graphics for small, medium-sized and large commercial printers, will launch in the Esko-Graphics Ballerup facilities in Denmark.
The Scandinavian CTP and Workflow Tour, sponsored by Esko-Graphics for small, medium-sized and large commercial printers, will launch in the Esko-Graphics Ballerup facilities in Denmark on September 20.
On September 21, the seminar will take place in the beautiful Villa Belparc in Goteborg.
Norwegian printers can attend the seminar in Oslo on September 22 in the Radisson Hotel, and the Scandinavian Tour concludes in Stockholm on September 24.
During the tour seminar, industry authorities Paul Lindstrom and Peter Ollen will present their vision on workflow and CTP for modern commercial printing businesses.
Esko-Graphics' experts will describe the developments in CTP and the role of JDF in pre-press production workflows.
The Esko-Graphics truck is specially equipped with hardware to demonstrate Esko-Graphics' CTP and workflows.
Other tour sponsors include Esko-Graphics' Scandinavian dealer Man Roland, the Swedish dealer 4Graphics and the MIS partner Novavision.
Paul Lindstrom lectures at the department of Media Production, Malmo University, and has developed an expertise in computer aided graphic design and production.
He is technical editor at AGI, the major graphic arts magazine in Scandinavia.
Peter Ollen is publisher and main owner of the AGI Group of Magazines.
In 1997 he received Branschpriset, a yearly award in Sweden for contributions to the newspaper and graphic arts market.
Both Lindstrom's and Mr Ollen's work regularly appears in professional trade publications and they are frequent speakers at industry conferences.
Lindstrom, who will present the Swedish seminars, explained: "A modern workflow system for print production must be able to integrate tightly and smoothly with both management information systems (MIS) and press control systems.
Amongst all the specific features at the heart of the workflow system, such as the RIP, the preflighting functionalities determine whether it will offer fast and smooth throughput.
To obtain high print quality and cost effective production the use of CtP is an absolute necessity but this has to be combined with really robust colour management." Ollen commented: "Last Drupa it was apparent that JDF especially is gaining importance as a new technology in the industry, opening a wide range of business opportunities for commercial printers," added.
Ollen's presentation in Denmark and Norway will focus on building business models around JDF.
Following the presentation, the audience is invited to participate in interactive presentations and demonstrations of related Esko-Graphics products and MIS partner solutions.
One demonstration focuses on integrating Scope and the Novavision MIS solution in order to automate the prepress workflow.
It is based on job data delivered by the MIS system.
The other demonstration illustrates CTP for four-up plate imaging through a live demonstration of the Platedriver Compact.
Esko-Graphics will present its range of platesetters and showcase the Platedriver Compact along with its dedicated Scope Flowdrive workflow.
Similar to other Platedriver family members, the Platedriver Compact uses a 60mW violet laser with three-year warranty, equally suited to expose silver and photopolymer plates.
During the tour, Scope will be demonstrated live in the Backstage configuration, a workflow server for highly-automated and productive volume processing of commercial work, including job tracking and open support for desktop design applications.
Scope's workflow and asset management servers are fully JDF-enabled for flexible integration with other pre-production and business systems.
