Agfa and Esko-Graphics have entered into a reseller agreement that allows Agfa to sell Deskpack and Plato products to the packaging market in the United Kingdom.

A similar agreement has been reached in Spain.

The deal will allow Agfa to add file creation applications to its pre-press portfolio for packaging printers.

Esko-Graphics' Deskpack range of plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop and the Plato step and repeat and nesting system, lets Agfa offer a complete workflow from file creation through production said Esko-Graphics.

"Deskpack and Plato are two excellent extensions to our offering in offset packaging production.

They are high-quality components that perfectly complement our Apogee X workflow system.

This partnership between Esko-Graphics and Agfa proves our firm commitment to be a true packaging integration partner for our customers," said Agfa's Kris Vangeel, director of packaging business, worldwide.

Esko-Graphics' Armand Gougay, vice president of sales and marketing, EMEALA added: "Agfa's choice to offer Deskpack and Plato is a recognition of Esko-Graphics' leadership position in packaging software.

This reseller agreement opens up additional distribution possibilities in to the offset packaging market where Agfa is a leading player with its CTP solutions." With the agreement Agfa and Esko-Graphics believe they complement each other's strengths and add to industry standardisation.

Close cooperation on their complementary workflow components fits into the mutual goal of offering a complete JDF-based workflow for the packaging industry.
