Esko will demonstrate two of its Kongsberg line of digital finishing tables for the short run production of signs and displays, POP and packages at FESPA Digital 2006.

The show in Amsterdam (May 16-18) is a sell out, with over 160 exhibitors from the digital and screen-printing community taking stands.

Esko said it will display its vision to turns the packaging supply chain - from brand owner to retailer - in to a straightforward collaborative process, boosting consistent quality, whilst reducing time to market and costs.

Part of the integrated packaging pre-production workflow is the Kongsberg digital finishing system driven by Scope components.

Esko will show the Kongsberg i-XL44 large format finishing table with the Multicut toolhead.

It features three simultaneous combined tools including the precision router and high-frequency oscillating and drag-knife cutting tool inserts.

With the integration of the MGE i-cut technology, it complements digital or other printing with a finishing system for the a range of materials with sizes up to 2,280mm x 3,420mm.

The Kongsberg i-XL44 will be demonstrated with a conveyer system combined with an MGE sheet feeder system for continuous material loading for non-stop production.

Esko will also demonstrate the Kongsberg i-XE10 - a new, high-speed cutting table for light duty and flexible materials, such as vinyl, polyester, polypropylene, polycarbonate, carton up to single flute corrugated board.

It is said to be suitable for the finishing production of sign and display, decals and labels, boxes and other speciality print applications with sizes up to 800mm x 1,100mm.

Continuous production will be shown combined with I-cut and automation features to handle roll and sheet material.

Scope, Esko's suite of CAD and graphics design and production workflow software, provides tools for POP and display producers.

Scope supports interaction with other partners, such as large format digital printers for short-run manufacturing.

IIt features what are described as 'smart' tools, such as three-dimensional visualisation capable of showing the look of the display before production starts.

Integration of CAD, graphics and 3D features through Esko's recently introduced ArtiosCAD 7.0 helps designers and operators to reduce errors and to maximise efficiency, claimed Esko.

Jef Bogaerts, Esko's project manager, said: "We are delighted to be presenting at FESPA Digital 2006.

This exciting new pan-European show is the perfect platform for our Kongsberg range.

The dramatic growth in the creative use of display graphics has opened up the market for these machines.

Esko's product is an ideal investment for the digital printer who is looking for a profitable finishing syste, for short run production.

The versatility and productivity of the Kongsberg series offers the digital printer real added value to existing work, together with unlimited scope for new business opportunities in the sign and display marketplace.".
