Inkjet Proofing's Connectivity For Drop-On-Demand
Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG) has launched its Matchprint inkjet proofing system, bringing the next level of workflow connectivity to drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet proofing.
Based on Kodak-developed software, and including a new certified process for colour confirmation, it is claimed to provide colour accuracy, enhanced image smoothness, quick calibration tools, and direct connectivity to Kodak's Prinergy and Brisque system workflows.
Gil Rosenfeld, productmManager for inkjet proofing, at Kodak, said: "Brand owners, agencies, publishers and commercial printers seek inkjet proofing that provide ease of use, integrate with their existing creative and pre-press applications and deliver consistent and accurate colour matching," SWOP certification reflects our commitment to offering colour proofing systems that perform to the highest industry standards." To achieve SWOP certification, manufacturers submit a SWOP application data sheet (ADS) and representative proofs for review.
The ADS provides directions for producing proofs as closely as possible to the SWOP certified press dheet.
A system earns SWOP certified designation through its ability to produce proofs that closely match the appearance of the SWOP certified press sheet.
Available in two-up, four-up and eight-up formats, Matchprint includes a full line of inkjet proofing media for high-quality colour, content, imposition and two-sided proofing.
The certified process for colour confirmation enables users to easily verify and certify that individual proofs meet SWOP or in-house colour standards.
Matchprint achieved SWOP certification driving the Epson Stylus Pro 4800, 7800 and 9800 printers using Matchprint Pro Publication Semi-Matte 245 Media.
SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) was established in response to the printing industry's need for uniform specifications and tolerances to ensure consistency and quality of material in publications.
Over the past 30 years, SWOP has become a major factor in the publication printing industry.
The resulting recommended specifications are the concern of all those involved in the production of publications, including the advertiser, publisher, printer, advertising agency and pre-press service supplier.
