US Marketing Deal Links NexPress And Digimaster
Nexpress Solutions and Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) are collaborating with in the marketing and distribution of Kodak Nexpress 2100 digital production colour presses and Kodak Digimasters.
When PB Group made the decision to invest in digital technology, it identified potentially suitable products and visited those manufacturers' headquarters for demonstrations of the machines, using PB Group's own files.
That was followed up by visits to third-party installations.
After a six-month evaluation period, the company decided on the Nexpress 2100 press because it has flexibility in its ability to print on all types of stock.

Digital Colour Press Destined For Winter Olympics
Kodak's Graphic Communications Group will provide digital photograph publishing services for the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Italy.
Installation took place within a week, and training was given on-site after the initial instruction in Germany on the operator replacement components (OCRs), which allow the operator to maintain the press and thus maximise uptime and productivity.
PB Group's managing director Trevor Lodge explained: "With more than 40 years experience, we are experts in the print industry but in today's fast moving commercial environment, loyalty and expertise count for little unless you move with the times." And he added: "Flexibility and having more options to offer clients are important to us.
That means economical shorter colour runs, fast turn-around, and personalised and customised mailouts - which is where the Nexpress 2100 comes in.
It runs alongside our Heidelberg sheetfed press, enabling us to offer the most cost effective solution to clients.
Variable data gives us a leading edge over other competing companies." He said that the Nespress 2100 has consistent quality over the run and the registration and is within very tight tolerances on back-up.
PB also liked the way Kodak do not charge on a 'per click' basis, giving PB maximum versatility over pricing across a spectrum of jobs.
Lodge added that there was one area that was resolved: "There was an issue with bleed using PDFs generated on our Agfa Apogee system.
Kodak experts were able to initiate a work-round that enabled us to continue generating PDFs on the Apogee for use on both the Nexpress 2100 press and CRT units." PB Group is looking to the future with a proposed additional factory in Sittingbourne and the acquisition of more sophisticated customisation software, and mining the new seam of variable data.
Lodge explained: "The investment level required to keep up with the latest technology within reduced margins due to overcapacity in the industry is a challenge.
We must become more efficient to continue to be competitive on pricing.
The time is right.
You get a feel for things in this industry and digital is coming of age." Founded in 1963, Brewster Printing merged with design agency Pentad Graphics in 1996 to form PB Group, offering a full creative design and print service.
It provides a range of business-to-business services from design and print of corporate identity, brochures, direct mail, advertising, packaging, exhibitions and multimedia to photography, illustration and copywriting, with the added benefit of an 'all under one roof service'.
A range of companies, local authorities and schools amongst its clients means that the company creates ideas and provides services from a single-colour logo to total event management for large organisations.
