New Server Technology Serves High Volume Needs
The introduction of a new Creo Color Server system has been made by Print On Demand Solutions (PODS) Group, an independent unit of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group.
In February 2005 Chris Pearce joined the company as managing director, previously with the Springfield Group and latterly with US-based packaging giant Fort Dearborn Company.
David Ball commented: "We were delighted when Chris accepted our offer to join the company.
We value the experience and reputation Chris brings to AC Graphics to help us develop the company in both new and traditional markets, from large format POS to high quality packaging graphics solutions." Kodak said it was very keen to form a strong partnership with AC Graphics for the beta testing of future colour management products because of the company's philosophy on colour quality.
As Chris Pearce explained: "Our customers are very particular about colour.
They expect and need colour to be exact because their product or brand success depends on it.
We have used Kodak Approval system proofs for some time and I have always been impressed with their colour accuracy.
Kodak was the obvious choice for us when it came time to extend our colour management systems as we look to expand in to more specialised markets." The Kodak systems selected by AC Graphics will help improve turn-around time, increase efficiency and add flexibility to the company's workflow whilst delivering colour that meets the stringent needs of its customers.
Realtimeproof web- based proofing and approval provides accurate image quality for monitor and remote proofing and AC Graphics' customers will experience quicker turn-around times by using the system.
Users need only a web browser on a Mac or PC and a free down-loadable plug-in to proof their original files from anywhere, at any time, said Kodak.
The Prinergy Powerpack workflow system incorporates three new features - two new Adobe Acrobat plug-ins that automate the correction cycle management of PDF files and a new versioning system that addresses the need to manage and automate proofing, approval and plating of increasingly complex jobs.
There is also rules-based automation that allows users to automate every action and event in the workflow.
According to Kodak, the openness and modularity of the Prinergy Powerpack workflow system gives David Ball needed flexibility for managing his customer's digital assets.
Ball added: "Employing a purely PDF workflow is critical for us because it provides increased storage and archiving capacity, a service many of our customers rely on.
The Thermoflex wide 80 x 52 platesetter purchased by AC Graphics will reduce cycle times and improve process control by eliminating variability in the job flow.
The Thermoflex platesetter brings the benefits of digital platemaking to flexography, enabling a consistent, controlled, digital manufacturing process and higher quality printing." AC Graphics' new Approval proofing system is claimed by Kodak to produce one of the industry's most versatile and accurate digital halftone proofs, virtually eliminating costly reworks and fostering an elevated level of trust with brand owners and other colour conscious customers.
Featuring Kodak's Recipe Colour technology, which lays down up to four densities each of CMYK and spot colours simultaneously, instead of one at a time, the Approval system is said to accurately produce millions of spot colours, including metallics and opaque white.
Approval also includes connectivity to a number of workflows and is said to have the ability to laminate to virtually any substrate.
