Adopt far reaching marketing to redefine printing
Kevin Joyce, who has been appointed as chief marketing officer at Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, believes that the printing industry needs to take a fresh look at how it markets itself.
Web-to-Unified Print system is said to combine a traditional web to print product with Kodak's Unified Workflow's business, production, colour and data systems.
The company said that because Web-to-Unified Print software integrates fully with all other aspects of an operation, printers can provide more powerful web to print services and better manage their overall business.
By integrating web to print capabilities with Unified Workflow systems, Web-to-Unified Print is claimed to make it easy and cost effective for print providers to offer new revenue generating applications using their existing workflow systems.

Web to print systems facilitate the ordering, creation and on demand printing of static, personalised or customised communications materials, ordered and created via a web application.
According to Kodak, web to print systems expand business and profitability opportunities for print service providers.
Advantages to marketers include improving the effectiveness of promotional materials and reducing the time to roll out new campaigns.
Chris Ries, product manager for Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, said: "Kodak's Web-to-Unified Print represents the next generation of web to print systems.
Print providers and buyers continually seek new services and applications that will help them optimise the effectiveness of materials they produce for their customers.
By adding Web-to-Unified Print to their current Kodak Unified Workflow systems, printers can deliver higher value services to their customers without changing their entire system." The Web-to-Unified Print system will be built by extending three established Kodak technology platforms.
Storefront e-commerce capabilities will be enabled via the company's Insite software, Personalized Pages for catalogue and templated orders will be provided by Kodak's Eyemedia software and Digital Print Manager workflow automation will be provided through the Kodak Prinergy workflow system.
Depending on which Kodak products a printer has invested in, additional Unified Workflow modules can be added to fully enable a Web-to-Unified Print system.
Web-to-Unified Print is expected by the company to be commercially available in the second quarter of 2007.
