Gloucestershire (UK) Manor Printing is reaping the benefits of its switch to non-process plates.

Gloucestershire (UK) Manor Printing is reaping the benefits of its switch to non-process plates The main challenges facing the company are keeping on top of the rapid changes within the printing industry and following strict environmental regulations

Undertaking the work it provides for public sector organisations means that adhering to the regulations is vital.

But there is a business opportunity in becoming more environmentally friendly and using more efficient processes, whilst producing the best quality customers are used to, added the company.

Mike Withey, production director at Manor Printing, commented: "The printing industry has changed in the fact that everyone is looking for tighter turn-around times and better value for money.

We have improved our processes and updated our technology to keep ahead of these demands and continue to provide top quality print within tight timescales at good value for money." He added: "The Kodak Thermal Direct non-process plates have enabled us to eliminate all processor waste, which has ultimately resulted in faster turn-around times and a reduction in waste management costs.

Being a true processless system the dot is very much first generation and as there are no chemicals involved in the development, consistency is guaranteed on each and every job.

We are extremely impressed with the quality and run length from the Thermal Direct non-process plates." Using environmentally friendly equipment and processes not only does wonders for the image and perception of a printer like Manor, according to Kodak.

Investing in that type of non-process system also gives companies a competitive head start, whilst reducing further impact on the planet's eco-system, and streamlining production efficiencies.

Kodak's Thermal Direct non-process printing plates are claimed to provide the resolution and imaging accuracy of thermal, digital plates without processing.

Thermal Direct plates eliminate the installation, management or maintenance of the traditional wet-chemical plate processing system.

That eliminates cost, as well as a source of variability - the processor - and thus improves the overall stability of the digital platemaking process, added Kodak.

Manor Printing provides commercial printing services to public and private sector organisations, such as Aston University and Warwickshire County Council.

The company, which employs 23 people, produces a variety of work, including on demand colour and mono digital print, and conventional lithographic print, from one-colour business cards to five-colour prestige brochures.

The Manor Printing Company opened its doors in 1970 and began providing a printing service to local businesses in the heart of Gloucestershire.

The company has now become one of the region's leading printing groups and incorporates design and digital printing facilities.
