University's Digital Print Strengthens Mailings
The University of Surrey is claimed to have become the first UK higher education establishment to benefit from Kodak Graphic Communications Group's (GCG) Nexpress 2100 digital colour press.
Consumers are also able to log in and re-order without having to upload the data again.
The software is exclusive to Kodak.
Kodak Nexpress Photobook Software also incorporates a web storefront and customers can upgrade for additional functions as their needs grow.
Kodak added that customers benefit from the flexibility of the software, which puts direct control in their hands.
Users can change and update products, prices and marketing messages, as well as production options (for example cover colours and formats) from their own desktops.
Multiple branded versions of the client software are created, thus allowing the service provider to create numerous sales channels for their photo products, it is claimed.
The software is integrated with the range of Kodak Nexpress digital production colour presses and incorporates a fully automated JDF-based print production process.
Stephane Lievain, vice president of marketing for Kodak's GCG in the Europe, Africa and Middle East Region (EAMER), commented: "Our experiences over the past few years in the photo product sector have given us an excellent understanding of the specific customer needs in this area.
With Nexpress Photobook Software, Kodak is addressing a real need in our client base and providing the flexibility our customers require.
It's an ideal system for Nexpress press users who want to add photo products to their range of services and we're also seeing a lot of interest from photo retailers who want to add to the services they offer by teaming up with a Nexpress press print provider." Nexpress Photobook Software will be available in EAMER, with beta testing taking place in November and full commercial availability scheduled for the beginning of January 2007.
The pricing model includes licence and maintenance fees, but does not require users to pay any variable fees per book.
