The CS600 is paired with the newest V-series system, the VX5000e, which incorporates Kodak Versamark's high-resolution inkjet technology and is being exhibited at Drupa - Hall 5, Stand B24.
A collaborative development program between EFI and Kodak Versamark, the CS600 system controller utilises industry-standard workflows and, believe the companies, represents an innovation in digital front end technology that makes the production of high-quality, high-volume, full colour documents faster and easier.
The CS600 is said to deliver integrated colour management, support for a wide range of standard and legacy data formats and a fully scaleable architecture to meet the needs of demanding customers.
"EFI and Kodak Versamark are revolutionising digital colour printing with inkjet technology for the transactional and commercial printing markets," said Kazem Samandari, vice president for global marketing and product management at Kodak Versamark.
"We are pleased to use this premiere international event to introduce commercial and transactional document printers to these innovative products.
Our V-series printing systems, when combined with the powerful CS600, are capable of delivering up to 2,000 full-color, high-quality pages per minute with up to 100% variable data," he added.
The CS600 features EFI's variable data printing capabilities for what Kodak Versamark believes is a complete VDP production workflow.
EFI's flexible and open architecture allows users to choose any authoring tool to create static and variable elements, the company added.
"This new and powerful controller is a culmination of many years of research and over 10 years of expertise in building industry leading color DFE's for the printing market," said Mehran Farimani, EFI's vice president of server products.
Customer deliveries of the product are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2004.
