University's Digital Print Strengthens Mailings
The University of Surrey is claimed to have become the first UK higher education establishment to benefit from Kodak Graphic Communications Group's (GCG) Nexpress 2100 digital colour press.
The DS4350 UV printing system is claimed to be a rugged, easy-to-use, high-volume inkjet printing system.
It is bundled with a UV curing ink station for reliable, high-resolution printing on a variety of substrates, including glossy stocks, aqueous and UV coated papers, plastic cards and films, said Kodak.
The DS4350 provides a wide 2.58" (6.55cm) of print coverage in a single printhead, with claimed print speeds of up to 330 feet per minute (100 metres per minute), with print resolutions of up to 300 dots per inch (dpi) x 600dpi, added the company.
The Versamark printer is available as a fully integrated system that includes a printer, controller, transport and UV curing station and also as a turnkey system including feeder, feeder base and output conveyor.
Terry Moseley, president of Secap, said: "With the growing demand for direct mail and fulfillment pieces printed on coated stocks, many of our print provider customers have been unable to use these substrates due to technology limitations.
The Kodak Versamark DS4350 UV is a reliable UV curable inkjet printing system that will provide our customers with the solution they need to print on substrates, such as plastic and paperboard folding cartons, from a brand name they can trust." Ron Gilboa, vice president of marketing for Kodak Versamark, added: "This is the first reseller agreement we have entered in to in North America.
The relationship with Secap will enable us to broaden our market reach by offering our inkjet systems to print providers in commercial printing, as well as the mailing and fulfillment markets.
The agreement enables Secap to offer its customers a productive system that will increase their ability to produce more high value personalised variable data imprinting applications and to offer unique capabilities that supports their business growth." The Kodak Versamark DS4350 printing system will be available from Secap from January 2006.
