Another important issue is that they are able to work with us globally with guaranteed support for equipment and services wherever the location." He added: "We think Kodak can meet our demands now and in the future and believe a partnership like this can increase our competitiveness in the global market." Initially Elanders has placed a large order for Kodak Magnus 800 Platesetters.
All are specified for maximum automation with Multi-Cassette Units holding up to 400 plates and fully integrated in-line punching for increased productivity.
The B1 platesetters will be installed at eight of the group's current European production sites, with the first unit arriving at the Hungarian facility this month.
Bjorn Wesstrom, general manager of Kodak GCG's Nordic Region, commented: "We are obviously delighted to secure this landmark agreement with a company of the stature of the Elanders Group.
Selling a CTP device is one thing but the key issue here was our ability to put together a sophisticated pan-European system for Elanders that covers all of their sites.
It really is a powerful endorsement of the strength and depth of Kodak's global offering." Elanders said it has ambitious expansion plans for Europe and the rest of the world, and Kodak platesetting equipment will be installed at new sites as they are set up.
The group will also switch to Kodak thermal printing plates as part of the arrangement.
"We will have the same equipment across our entire production platform, which means we can quickly and easily move work between sites as required.
This allows us to optimise the utilisation of our resources," Christer Adolfsson added.
The Elanders Group has gone through substantial changes in recent years and is continually reshaping its business to meet the changing demands of its customers, who increasingly require global services based on long-term supply agreements.
Founded in 1908, the company employs 1,500 staff and has operations in seven countries.
It focuses on 'infomedia', which it defines as publishing information in the most appropriate format in any kind of media.
That could be a catalogue, a user manual, an advertisement, a product specification, or a website.
The common goal is that the right information reaches the right recipient at the right time, said the company.
