Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) has launched an enhanced version of its powerful RIP and universal file conversion software - Matchflow Composer.

Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) has launched an enhanced version of its powerful RIP and universal file conversion software - Matchflow Composer The new version 4.3, compatible with Mac OS X version 10.3 Panther, can now generate ISO-compliant PDF/X-3 file formats and allows page selective RIPping for multi-page PostScript and PDF files, said the company

Installed directly on standard G4 or G5 Macintosh computers, this multipurpose pre-press tool allows viewing, conversion and generation of secured print-ready files including new CT and LW, TIFF-IT, PDF/X-3 and 1-bit TIFF as well as other graphic art formats.

Commented Thierry Callot, European product manager for software solutions at KPG: "Matchflow Composer brings significant benefits to the user.

Not only is the initial investment minimal but also the system is easy to install, use and maintain.

It allows users to improve, automate and secure production workflows resulting in the elimination of bottlenecks with significant gains in time with no need to replace existing equipment.

It is also the simplest way to create a ROOM - Rip Once Output Many - production stream." As well as easily handling supplier compatibility problems, it could be used to process any PostScript 3 or PDF file for PostScript level 2 devices without significant investment or disruption to production set-ups, he added.

One Matchflow Composer could interact with several PostScript level 2 devices so it is an efficient and economical solution, he said.

Matchflow Composer incorporates the latest Eclipse version of the Global Graphics Harlequin RIP.

For PC users, it now also includes a PC TIFF RGB preview image option in EPS files.

This enables PC users to view the placed EPS in a layout application in colour instead of black and white.

It is targeted at small to medium commercial printers, small to medium trade shops, advertising agencies and premedia companies.

KPG is currently looking for European distributors for this RIP and universal file conversion software.

Matchflow Composer Version 4.3 will be demonstrated on the KPG Drupa stand in Hall 5, Stand 5D24.
