Adopt far reaching marketing to redefine printing
Kevin Joyce, who has been appointed as chief marketing officer at Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, believes that the printing industry needs to take a fresh look at how it markets itself.
This initial investment has been followed by the installation of a KPG Matchprint Inkjet proofing system.
The company was founded in the 1840's as a jobbing printer willing to undertake any job.
Thomas Dornan is now a general commercial colour printing company, still taking on the full spectrum of customers' needs but which now involves full colour work.

University's Digital Print Strengthens Mailings
The University of Surrey is claimed to have become the first UK higher education establishment to benefit from Kodak Graphic Communications Group's (GCG) Nexpress 2100 digital colour press.
The company moved to its present site 12 years ago to allow for expansion and work is obtained from all over the UK.
The family connection is still maintained with Martin Dornan who is a partner with Bill Bescoby.
"We moved into CTP after careful research and have been pleased with the results.
We have improved our production efficiency and enhanced our printing quality," commented managing director Bill Bescoby.
"Using new technology such as thermal CTP has allowed us to keep an edge over our competitors and provide top class service to our customers.
The clean and accurate KPG Electra Excel plates give us faster make-ready times and a better environment.
The installation of the Matchprint Inkjet proofing system completes the missing link in our digital workflow.
It is considered by our customers as a 'proper' proof and accepted as contract standard," continued Bill Bescoby.
Electra Excel plates are claimed to meet the requirements of the commercial sheet-fed printer, with the need for quality production in a variety of plate size and medium run lengths.
The plates can also be used for shorter run web printers where the need for a more robust product such as the Kodak Polychrome Graphics DITP Gold pre-heat thermal plate is not required.
Notable benefits of the Electra Excel plates include improved sensitivity and greater resolution of one per cent - 99 per cent at 250 lines per inch (lpi) as well as a broader spectral sensitivity of 800nm-850nm.
KPG Mercury 1250 plate processor The KPG Mercury 1250 processor is very flexible and can efficiently handle negative, positive and thermal digital plates.
The plate processor matches the efficiency of a modern CTP installation, claimed KPG.
It is easy to operate and convenient to maintain providing consistently high quality trouble free processing.
The Matchprint Inkjet proofing system from KPG comprises a Matchprint Color RIP, profiles and Matchprint media.
It is said to provide advanced functionality and colour control on 18 different printers from Canon, HP and Epson.
Matchprint Colour Inkjets combine the KPG Color Fidelity Module (CFM) with a Best RIP.
The graphic arts properties of the RIP give the capability to show traps and overprints, which enables the identification of colour and design errors early in the production cycle.
