CTP And Plates Exhibited at Newstec 2005

Said to be capable of speeds of up to 120 plates per hour at 1,270 dots per inch (dpi), the Newsetter V120 violet newspaper CTP can be integrated in to existing workflows and provides one continuous flow of plates, from automatic loading and the removal of interleaving paper, to final punching, bending and stacking of press-ready plates, said the company.
The Newsetter V120 offers a modular, fully automated violet CTP plate production line, which can be individually customised to meet the demanding productivity levels of the newspaper market and allows users to efficiently control input, production and output, said KPG.
It is suitable for many newspaper formats including panorama, broadsheet and tabloid and can be run in one production sequence, without stoppages or amendments to the system.

New Server Technology Serves High Volume Needs
The introduction of a new Creo Color Server system has been made by Print On Demand Solutions (PODS) Group, an independent unit of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group.
The KPG Violetnews printing plate will be shown in operation for the first time at Newstec 2005.
The Violetnews plate is designed for newspaper applications and is said to combine reliability, consistency and production quality.
An integral component of the Newsetter V120 violet newspaper CTP system, the KPG Violetnews printing plate, designed for newspapers, is claimed to offer high durability and resolution of two per cent to 98 per cent at (up to 175Ipi) with run lengths of 200,000 copies unbaked.
Other specifications include fast imaging speed, handling in yellow safelight environments and low chemistry usage.
Commenting on the KPG newspaper systems, Terry Baber, KPG UK managing director said: "The introduction of violet newspaper systems is a new direction for KPG and supports our commitment to offering our customers choice." Also on show was a range of KPG's proofing, including the Realtimeproof system and Matchprint virtual proofing system-LCD, designed to provide accurate contract colour proofing on-line.
The Northmann AGS system, which allows printers to manage and store customer files and distribute documents to subsidiaries, partners or agencies for content proofing and approval purposes, also figured on the stand.
The company also demonstrated the Newsetter TH100/TH180 CL thermal newspaper CTP system with the News Fidelity plate quality management system, the News Monitor remote diagnostic system and the Thermalnews Gold printing plate.
Baber added: "We have been forging ahead with the development of our thermal technology with the introduction of the Thermalnews Gold printing plate and the Newsetter TH100/TH180 CL system.
Our new and expanded product portfolio for the newspaper industry helps position us as a total solutions provider and because every newspaper printer is unique, we see it as our responsibility as a leading industry supplier to cater for our customers' varying requirements." The Newsetter V120 violet newspaper CTP and Newsetter TH100/TH180 CL systems were also on show with a Nela video controlled punching and bending module linked to the fully automated Newsetter configuration.
That enabled accurate punching and bending of imaged and processed newspaper plates and provides optimum performance of the system, added the company.
