University's Digital Print Strengthens Mailings
The University of Surrey is claimed to have become the first UK higher education establishment to benefit from Kodak Graphic Communications Group's (GCG) Nexpress 2100 digital colour press.
Kodak added that the Digimaster EX builds on the performance, productivity and flexibility of Kodak's Digimaster with fast turn-around times to produce new and creative print on demand documents with sophisticated finishing.
The series is available in four speeds - EX110, claimed to run at 110 pages per minute (ppm), EX125 (125ppm), EX138 (138ppm) and the EX150 (150ppm).
Digimaster EX machines are also said to provide an extended paper supply that holds 4,000 sheets of large format sheets in all three paper drawers, roll feed attachment directly to the print engine for transaction, or high volume printing and the capability of outputting on a substrates from 60gsm to 266gsm.
Launched at AIIM On Demand last April, the Nexpress M700 digital colour press is claimed to appeal to print providers who want to enter the digital printing business with short run colour, web to print and variable data printing capabilities.
The M700 is also said to provide customers with the confidence to build production volume with versatile colour jobs.
Kodak added that the M700 also allows users to migrate to other higher volume Nexpress presses with additional features and capabilities as they grow their businesses.
The four-color press runs at a claimed 70ppm for the full range of commonly supported 64-300gsm substrates (coated, uncoated, recycled and labels).
The M700 operates using the scalable Kodak Nexstation V front end that accepts file formats from commonly used application software, as well as having operator replaceable components that enables printers to manage costs, control image quality and optimise profitability, added the company.
Mike Howard, vice president of marketing for digital printing solutions at Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, said: "This award echoes what we hear from our customers, that Kodak's digital colour and mono systems are helping them grow their businesses through new applications.
We aim to offer our customers a variety of innovative digital print systems with the speed, flexibility and quality necessary to drive demand for short run and variable data printing.".
