The Automatic Pallet Loader can be loaded with up to six pallets, each with as many as 600 plates, for fully-automatic, on-line loading to Kodak's Magnus VLF Platesetter.
The system is said to allow for efficient platemaking, including fully-automatic unloading to the processing line.
It features a slipsheet storage system that allows for easy disposal or reuse of slipsheet paper, it is claimed.
Available in multiple configurations to meet the needs of any operation, the Automatic Pallet Loader features one, two or three segments.
Each segment can be customised to contain up to two stacks of plates.
For maximum flexibility to meet current and future needs, the segments are field upgradeable, said Kodak.
The Automatic Pallet Loader has been adapted to Cox Target Media's new Valpak Manufacturing Centre in St Petersburg, Florida (USA) which is scheduled to open in January 2008.
The facility is a print and distribution center showcasing the latest automated material handling systems, added Kodak.
Once completed, the facility will more than double Valpak's production capacity and a feature of the facility will be the Magnus VLF Platesetter with the Automatic Pallet Loader system.
All Magnus VLF Platesetters with continuous load or multi-cassette unit automation options are upgradeable to the Automatic Pallet Loader.
Jamie Lyall, Kodak's product manager for VLF, said: "By enabling simple loading of plates to the device, the Automatic Pallet Loader follows the principles of lean manufacturing and helps commercial printers streamline their production operations.
As the market leader in VLF computer to plate systems, we understand the needs of printers in this segment and continue to maximise efficiency for our customers with bulk plate loading.".
