The Emtex VIP Server in conjunction with Kodak's Nexpress digital colour presses is claimed to ease the printing of effective, high volume, variable colour documents for transpromo and direct mail.

According to Kodak, Emtex's growing support for digital printing systems now includes output to the ISO standard PPML and VDX data stream format Paired with the Nexpress digital colour press, Emtex's VIP Server is claimed to allow users to manage high resolution print files for transpromo and direct mail applications, with print stream re-engineering capabilities and workflow automation options

Kodak described VIP server as a high-performance output management system that provides centralised print production management, real time data stream transformation, resource management and job accounting.

It also now supports conversion of IBM AFP to PPML and VDX data stream format.

In addition to the Nexpress presses, VIP Server supports all Kodak Versamark printing systems, including MICR configurations.

VIP server's capabilities for Versamark machines are said to include conversions to IJPDS, from PostScript or PDF, support for three-up and four-up and 300 dots per inch (dpi) and 240dpi printers.

It also supports ICC profiles for colour conversion using Kodak's Colorflow to ensure accurate colour rendition, added the company.

Pat McGrew, of Kodak's data centre and transaction segment, said: "Kodak and Emtex are providing print production systems that overcome traditional transactional print challenges, such as working with a mixture of legacy and modern applications, a variety of printstream formats and complex workflow requirements.".
