600dpi Flatbed Accessory For Scanning
Bound Books
Eastman Kodak Company has introduced an A3 flatbed accessory for its i1400 series scanner range, which is attached to the main unit by a 1.8m tethered USB cable.
The cable is said to allow the flatbed to be positioned away from the scanner unit, or unplugged and stored out of the way when not needed Kodak said that the flatbed is capable of up to 600 dots per inch (dpi) optical resolution and that it is suitable for exception scanning of larger bound documents, books and magazines

The company added that for the first time, the flatbed can also be used with all i1200 or i1300 series scanners providing a cross platform mix and match capability that Kodak believes is unique.
That means that the i1200, i1300 series and i1400 series can now be fitted with the same A4 or A3 flat beds, flexibility, depending on requirements.
The A3 flatbed also supports Kodak Smart Touch technology auto-enabling up to nine functions, such as scan-to-email and scan-to-searchable PDF, using the start button, to help maximise productivity, it is said.
The i1200 and i1300 series have enabled Kodak's continued growth in the desktop scanning market with the i1400 series models also being well received, said the company.
Kodak added that it offers simplex and duplex models in all ranges, with various options for the amount of paper that can be scanned each day.
That is said to vary from 3,000 pages per day at the lower end to 10,000 for those companies needing more throughput.
All scanner models come with Kodak's enhanced Perfect Page image processing to ensure scanned images independent of original document quality.
Hauke Fast, Kodak's product marketing manager for the EAMER region, said: "Kodak is renowned for its continuing product development and the combination of these scanners with interchangeable flatbed accessories across the product ranges is yet another example of how we are addressing customer needs in ever more innovative ways." The A3 flatbed accessory is available immediately from Kodak Document Imaging authorised distributors and resellers throughout the EAMER region.
