New Proofing Systems For High Quality
Print In UK
An off-line proofing system that compares a printed sheet or section from a web press against the customer approved article is now available in the UK and Ireland.
That follows the establishment of a new distributorship, EyeC-UK, which is to work in conjunction with EyeC in Germany, the manufacturer of the Proofiler and Proofrunner print proofing systems The company develops and manufactures print proofing and verification systems for the high quality print industry and for pharmaceutical, branded goods and cigarette packaging in particular

EyeC-UK in Reading will supply and support the complete EyeC product range across the UK and Ireland.
With Proofrunner the printed sheet could be folding cartons, a sheet of labels, patient information leaflets, or flexible foil.
The customer approved article could be a PDF or signed-off print.
EyeC said that, unlike earlier technologies which were pixel based, EyeC's systems are object based and can compensate for typical print differences, such as minor registration, character growth and contrast differences.
It is also claimed that it can find a missing dot of the letter 'i' in five-point type.
The company added that Proofrunner finds the things that can be difficult to spot by eye, such as wrong point size, font changes and missing accents.
It has no difficulties with different character sets, such as Chinese and Japanese.
The Proofiler can be used equally well for incoming inspection applications to check for conformance.
The Proofrunner is mounted on a press, or rewinder to check for similar errors as the Proofiler but will do it at full production speed up to 140 metres per second, added EyeC.
An option for the pharmaceutical industry is the Proofiler Braille option, which will check embossed or printed Braille for missing or extra dots, compliance with Marburg medium and verify height and tactility of dots.
With the UK and Ireland having one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing bases in Europe, the new office is expected to make a substantial contribution to continuing growth said EyeC.
