The first two days of FESPA 2005 show promising signs of fulfilling the organisers' ambition of making the show the most successful to date in terms of visitor attendance.

Half-way through the second day of the show, 8,000 individual visitors had already passed through the Messe Munich to see the latest developments in screen and digital printing, more than double the attendance by the same point at FESPA 2002 in Madrid (Spain), said the organiser.

Around 2,500 of those visitors returned for a second day at the show, making a total of 10,500 visits to the exhibition.

Frazer Chesterman, the exhibitions director for FESPA, said: "Our pre-registration figures were extremely encouraging, so we had high expectations and we're thrilled with the real footfall at the show so far.

As we expected, turnout from the national screen and digital printing communities is high, with around 25 per cent of visitors on the first day coming from Germany.

But visitors have also made the trip from much further afield, with high levels of attendance from other European, Middle Eastern, African, Asia-Pacific and American markets." He continued: "Delegate numbers from Italy, France, Benelux, UK, Turkey, Brazil and South Africa have been especially buoyant.

The location in Munich has also attracted throngs of visitors from central and eastern Europe, adding up to over 1,000 visitors from those regions.

It's too early to predict the overall visitor figure with any accuracy but we believe that FESPA 2005 is firmly on course to be the best FESPA exhibition yet.".
