With official statistics now available, FESPA has confirmed that the 2005 exhibition drew exhibitors from a record 121 different countries.
With official statistics now available, FESPA has confirmed that the 2005 exhibition drew exhibitors from a record 121 different countries, reflecting FESPA's standing as the premier exhibition for the global digital, screen and large format markets.
The exhibition welcomed over 60 per cent of its visitors from outside Germany, reflecting the worldwide appeal of the show.
About 53 per cent of visitors were from other European countries, whilst nine per cent visited the event from other continents.
The organiser said that the show lived up to the expectations of the exhibitors.
Reports from many of the 532 companies, who between them covered over 27,500 square metres of stand space, cited both the high volume and decision-making calibre of visitors to be instrumental in the success of the event.
Reflecting the upbeat mood of exhibitors, Jane Cedrone, marketing communications and public relations manager at super-wide format inkjet manufacturer, Vutek, commented: "FESPA 2005 was a phenomenal success for us.
Market reaction to the launch of our new Pressvu UV 320/400 and news of our acquisition by EFI was extremely positive.
The standard of this year's show delegate was also high, enabling us to take many orders on the stand from a wide variety of worldwide markets and geographic regions.
In addition to product sales, FESPA 2005 was an important communication platform for Vutek and it far exceeded all our expectations." Cedrone's view echoed that of Helga Laschet, the marketing manager for Esko Graphics, who commented: "The show was Esko Graphics' introduction to the sign market and we saw it as an important global platform for establishing our brand in this developing sector.
With our cutting and finishing solutions, we cooperate closely with the leading flatbed manufacturers, so this was a natural showcase for us.
We're delighted with the quality of visitors and are leaving with some excellent contacts and orders.
The direct results of exhibiting have far exceeded our expectations but more importantly, we are confident that through FESPA, we have gone a long way to making our name known in a new market." Bruce Butler, the director of marketing at Colorspan by MacDermid, shared that sentiment: "FESPA 2005 has exceeded our expectations of the show.
We met with distributors and customers from around the world and we have been very pleased with their reaction to our products, in particular our Displaymaker 72UVR flatbed printer.
Based on the success of this show for us, we've already committed to being at FESPA 2007 in Berlin." Giuseppe Butti, the general manager of screenprinting manufacturer Siasprint, was in agreement: "We're very satisfied with our attendance.
The quality of visitors has been very good and we've made positive contacts and collected interesting prospects and concrete leads.
FESPA was important for us for presenting the new Siasprint organisation, our new machine developments and our key focus, the new version of our multicolour line.
It's been a high-profile exhibition and the mix of visitors has been good; we've been favourably surprised by the volume of interest from North and South America, Eastern Europe and Asia." As the first FESPA exhibition to be organised by a specialist in-house team, Frazer Chesterman, the event's director, said: "The FESPA team are absolutely thrilled with the resounding success that companies once again encountered at FESPA.
Clearly the results demonstrate FESPA's 40 years' experience in running successful events and our continued commitment to the interests of both exhibitors and visitors to our shows.
Based on feedback from exhibitors, the event is clearly proven as the premier international event in which to generate business in this sector.".
