Flint Ink has introduced Arrowstar KG, a four-colour waterless ink system specially formulated for offset sheetfed printing applications.

Flint Ink has introduced Arrowstar KG, a four-colour waterless ink system specially formulated for offset sheetfed printing applications.

German press manufacturer KBA has certified Arrowstar KG for use on the company's 74 Karat, offset press designed for short-run to medium-run, four-colour print.

The new ink system is compatible with the Karat's patented Gravuflow anilox system and transfers smoothly onto the press plates, producing sharp dots and excellent rub resistance on coated and uncoated substrates claimed Flint.

The four-colour system is fast setting with press stability for faster turn-around and increased pressroom efficiency.

Eric Frank, vice president of marketing at KBA North America said: "We are pleased to partner with a world renowned ink manufacturer such as Flint Ink.

Arrowstar KG is formulated to heat to the perfect viscosity within the ideal temperature window, which allows the inks to transfer to the plates cleanly and with minimal waste." The KBA 74 Karat press operates on a Gravuflow keyless inking unit that consists of only two rollers.

Ink transfers from one roller to the Gravuflow screen roller to ink Pearl Dry printing plates, manufactured by Presstek.

"Commercial and packaging printers are constantly seeking ways to maximise press speeds without sacrificing print quality," said Doug Aldred, vice president of the global sheetfed division at Flint Ink.

Arrowstar KG is currently offered to commercial and packaging printers in 4.5 lb (2.04 kg) ink cartridges.
