Flint's Development Plays Major Role In Awards Win

The EFTA 2006 print awards proved to be another memorable night of success for Flint Group.

The best in show award was made to D S Smith Sacks for its Marmite Love Portions, printed using Flint Group printing plates.

The award represents the outcome of much development work by D S Smith, with strong involvement from Flint Group technical staff, said the company.

Dr Thomas Telser, president of Flint Group Printing Plates, said: "Considering that there were over 400 entries from around the world and with the strong reputation for the high quality printing standards, the involvement in the winning entry at the EFTA Print Awards is excellent recognition of the qualities of Nyloflex printing plates." He added that this year's success follows on from 2005 when Nyloflex plates had been used to win the best in show award.

The repeated success this year signifies the strength of Flint Group Printing Plates in the flexo market, beleives the company.

Printing plates from Flint Group played a part in 38 of the awards that were presented: 16 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze.

Flint Group also went on to win the 2006 supplier of the year award.

It is the second time since the introduction of the category in 2002 that Flint Group (previously BASF Printing Systems) has won the award, which is determined by a combination of the number of nominations received, together with the part they had played in the winning prints across all the EFTA competition categories.

In the label sector XSYS Print Solutions provided UV Flexo inks to the winning label samples in the categories labels plastic process and labels plastic line printing, as well as inks for the silver award for prints in labels paper and plastic process.

In total 77 awards were presented to printers on the night and products from Flint Group had played a part in virtually half of them.
