Flint Launches Water Ink Revolution
Flint Ink has launched what it claims to be a revolutionary, highly concentrated colour technology for water inks called X-Treme Dispersions.
In a three-step process, the sleeve is produced on the Nyloflex Infinity equipment line starting from conventional mounting sleeves and tapes using the Nyloflex N H flexo plate.
Within less than an hour, it is claimed that a seamless polymer sleeve is accomplished, ready for coating with a laser ablative black mask, followed by digital imaging and conventional round processing.
The flexibility of the production process allows the build-up of the sleeve and the polymer width to be adjusted to meet the specific requirements of the print job, claimed Flint Group.
The Nyloflex Infinity equipment line incorporates the Nyloflex Infinity cutter, the Nyloflex infinity mounter, for application of the cushion tape, followed by the polymer Nyloflex N H plate, and finally the Nyloflex Infinity merger for removal of the plate seam to produce a seamless joint.
Flint claimed that whilst other processes for manufacturing photopolymer sleeves include quite drastic conditions to close the gap between the plate ends, the Nyloflex Infinity process applies more favourable processing conditions to the photopolymer to preserve the photosensitive properties of the material.
High material efficiency is achieved through possible multiple use of the mounting sleeves and the adjustment of the polymer width to the print design independent of the width of the carrier sleeve, added the company.
The variety of commercially available mounting sleeves can be used to make the Nyloflex Infinity technology an in-house alternative for trade shops and printers that have to fulfill a lot of different requirements every day.
The flexibility and efficiency of the process not only allows seamless flexo printing forms to gain market shares from gravure printing, where endless designs are normal, but it might also make Nyloflex Infinity sleeves an affordable alternative to flexo plates, it is claimed.
Flint added that is due to the elimination of traditional mounting and the achievement of high press speed through high running accuracy.
