Flint Group Incorporated will move its current offices in Ann Arbor Township to a location in Plymouth Township late in the first quarter of next year.

Selection of the new facility was finalised earlier this week.

According to Rita Conrad, vice president of corporate communications for Flint Group, the move was dictated by the changing requirements of the organisation.

Referring to the 150,000 square feet of office and laboratory space in the current building, she said: "Decentralisation of research and product development activities to field locations and a shift of corporate functions to regional organisations means we just don't need as much, or the same kind of space." In considering a smaller facility the company looked at new construction options, as well as at existing structures.

Conrad explained: "Our main concern was to remain within a limited area to minimise the impact on our employees' commuting as much as possible.

We also preferred to have a stand-alone facility as opposed to occupying part of a multi-tenant building.

The new facility meets both of these specifications." Flint Group's new offices will be in an area of growing office and technical development along Beck Road.

The future of the Dixboro facility will be determined by its owners, members of the Flint family.
