If there are tones in the image that are in the black separation only, for example shadows or text and you convert the image to another ICC profile, the result may contain other separations in those tones as well.
We have developed a technology to get rid of this problem." The Black is Black option in Flowman Inkoptimizer is claimed to ensure that if there are black separation only tones in an image, they will remain black separation only in the result as well.
Also new is Flowman's Super GCR option, which is said to generate effective achromatic under-colour removal in CMYK-to-CMYK conversions.
The outcome is separations that give the lowest possible ink consumption, whilst maintaining an identical colour result, added the company.
The Super GCR and Black is Black options will be included in Flowman Inkoptimizer version 4.1, which will be available in the second quarter of this year.
