Sustainability in an eco-conscious world will be the subject of the first of a series of FINAT webcast clinics to be launched by the self-adhesive label industry organisation.

According to FINAT, its members will be able to attend what is has described as 'cyber-clinics' in the comfort of their own offices as the series of problem solving webcasts get under way.

The first webcast will be staged on March 31, to examine the challenges of 'The Green Monster - Threat or Opportunity?'.

FINAT's managing mirector, Jules Lejeune, said: "Most larger enterprises have developed their strategies to cope with environmental issues but many of the smaller businesses still struggle hugely with this subject.

How can they take man and the environment in to account whilst improving products and services cost efficiently?" The organisation is collaborating with IVAM, a Dutch institute for research and consultancy on sustainability, to present the cyber-clinic, which FINAT said is aimed at reaching as many of its members as possible around the world.

There are four web events planned as part of FINAT's 50th anniversary celebrations and at the end of this year, information from all four will be published as a collection - 'Scenarios 2015' - which will serve as guidance for FINAT's future strategy.

Lejeune commented: "Label converters in Europe will have to face more of these environmental challenges in the years to come.

Not only will they be pressured by local, national and European law makers to change their operations and products but customers, also will demand clean and transparent methods and products.

But these demands can also be converted in to opportunities for new, innovative, sustainable and value adding systems." Full details of the cyber clinics are available on the members-only section of FINAT's website.
