FINAT's Euro-India Labelling Exchange programme has produced its first 'marriage' with label printers in Sweden and India now preparing to open a jointly-owned factory on the Indian sub-continent.

Nordvall and Co of Sweden and Laxmi Compugraphics of Mumbai (India) have formed a jointly-owned label company at Mahad, 200km from Mumbai Work on a 600 square metre factory is almost complete and it should be in operation this month, said FINAT

When the global trade association for the self-adhesive label industry launched a 'speed dating' programme to introduce companies from the two regions to each other at a New Delhi exhibition, it hoped such a result would be encouraged.

Now, it is considering a follow-up to the Labelling Exchange later this year.

Nordvall's vice-president and partner, Mikael Dahl, said: "It has been an exciting journey that started with the Euro-Indian Labelling Exchange meetings.

We went there with clear objectives and the event has certainly met our expectations, as we would never have been able to arrange so many individual contacts in such a short time on our own.".
