Eradicating Large Format Digital Print
Image Fog
One of the main reasons for poor quality large format digital UV printing is image fogging caused by electrostatic charges on the substrate.
That is according to the UK's Fraser Anti-Static Techniques, which said that the powerful fields generated by the static charge on digital printing systems causes the ink droplets to be deflected on to non-image areas on the substrate That is called overspray, or fogging and results in poor quality printing and a rejected product
There are various reasons for the generation of the static charge on the substrate, added the company.
An in depth study of the digital printing process and the fogging phenomenon at Fraser has led to the development of static elimination systems to overcome those problems.
They feature the 1250-S Static Eliminator Bar mounted on to the travelling print head.
Anti-static systems are also available for removing the dust from the substrate.
